The Beaver Was Found Beside a Busy Kent Road — Then Came the Unexpected Release

A lone beaver was found beside a busy roadside in Kent. Weeks later, the animal’s next appearance offered a much calmer answer to the question of what happened after the rescue.According to ITV News Meridian, a farmer raised the alarm after finding the beaver alone near Wingham in July 2026. Kent Wildlife Rescue collected her, and she was then taken to the RSPCA before moving to Wildwood Trust near Canterbury.After quarantine and health checks, the beaver was confirmed to be female and microchipped by the Beaver Trust. Wildwood staff said she was growing in confidence and settling into her new home. She has since moved to the park’s top pond, where visitors can see her.Beavers are a keystone species: by coppicing trees, building dams and slowing water, they can help create wetlands that support other wildlife.So what happened after the roadside discovery?
